Ruyi as a design symbol. The backbone concept of this project originated from the traditional Chinese culture. "Ruyi" brings good fortune to the family and is considered of great luck. A two-layered wine shelf hanging at the center of the wall in the dining room represents good fortune and wealth. The form of the double-layered wine shelf is carefully designed. The inspiration is from the numeric form of number 8. The pronunciation of number 8 sounds exactly as the word "wealth" in Chinese. In Chinese tradition, Ruyi also has the same form as number 8. As "8" also represents infinity in scientific symbols, the meaning of the wine shelf reminisences infinite fortune.
